School Council
The Parent Council encourages all parents to become involved in the education of their child. Becoming part of the parent council is a great way to do this. As a member of the parent council, you have input into school level decisions, you know what is happening at your child's school, you can be part of the plannning for special events and fundraisers. An effective parent council is a wonderful gift to a school. You can make a difference in your child's school.
Belmead Parent Council meets once a month from 6:00 to 8:00. We begin with supper followed by our meeting. Children may accompany their parents to join us for supper. Students play either in the computer or the kindergarten room while the meeting is in progress.

Meeting was called to order at 6:15pm.

Approval of Minutes Motion: Moved by J. Neiszner, seconded by T. Wutke, to approve the minutes of last meeting and the agenda for current meeting as distributed. Carried.
Principal's Report We have a confirmation of H1N1 flu virus(Swine Origin Influenza Virus). Lately, we have had a large number of students away. On Friday at 3:15pm, Mr. Cooper was notified of a confirmed a mild case of H1N1. Anyone showing symptoms should stay home for 7 days or 1 full day without showing any symptoms. It is good that our kids are going through it now than in October when flu season starts. We have been trying to isolate the kids with symptoms and then send them home. The custodial staff have been instructed to do extra cleaning in public areas like doorknobs, etc. If you have any questions or concerns, call the Healthlink line. Several schools in the west end have confirmed cases of H1N1. Thanks to Claire and the PAC for the portable sound system and the 12 x 12 screen for the gym. Last Friday, the trustees okayed the new plan for scheduling for next year. Enrollment for next year is estimated to between 220 and 225 students. Jill Frasier was hired as a FSL Teacher. And the school will be hiring either a new Grade 1 or 2 Teacher.
Teacher's Report Mr. Lavigne will not be returning next year. He is going to Grovener School to teach Grade 3. Wednesday, June 24 - Funday Thursday, June 25 - 9am Celebration Assembly Friday, June 26 - 9am Awards and Grade 6 Farewell June 16 and 23 - Swim dates
A.P.P.L.E. Representative's Report Miss Wright has been working on her report of what she has achieved over the year. On May 21, she organized a BBQ with Jasper Place kids. She also, had a peny carnival for the JDRF. She will be emailing the Apple Committee to do the questionaire online. The committee will meet next year She may have dietician students to help with the Incredible Edibles next year. She has been busy organizing the Funday. It will have a pirate theme. She booked a bouncy thing for $200. She found 100% fruit juice freezies for $200. She is wanting to run an art station to make bandanas decorated with fabric markers. She is looking into a breakfast club next year. Mrs. Bazinet is retiring in mid September.
Treasurer's Report There is $1510 in the Busy Bee Account. There is $25894 in the Casino Account. Starla would like to be done all the finances by June 26.
Casino Coordinator's Report All the shifts are covered with back up for the Casino. The accounting is holding up the casino. A volunteer meeting is needed. Monday, June 22 at 7pm is set for the meeting. It should be no longer than an hour for the meeting.
Old Business Subway lunch on Friday, June 12th. Incredible EDibles is doing good. The Division 2 students are more independant. JDRF Walk on Friday, June 12 at 2:30pm. The Staff Appreciation luncheon on June 11. On June 25, there will be a check presentation for the JDRF. The Charity for next year is the Autism Society. They will be doing a 6 week reading program.
The first meeting will be elections for next years PAC. We must have a minimum of 7 positions filled to be considered a society. The PAC thanked Erin Gil for their help and input during the year.
